How do you put in colored contact lenses?
Inserting colored contact lenses can seem a little tricky at first, but with the right technique and a little practice, it will be a breeze. Follow these steps to safely and easily insert your colored contact lenses:
-
Washing Hands
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, and dry them with a clean towel. Make sure your hands are completely dry before handling your lenses. -
Check the Lens
Remove the lens from the lens case and check that it is not damaged. Make sure that the lens is the right shape – it should be a bowl shape, not upside down. If the edge curls outwards, the lens is upside down. -
Place the Lens on your Finger
Gently place the lens on the index finger of your dominant hand. Be careful not to let the lens slide or fall out of your hand. -
Pull Your Eyelid Open
With your other hand, pull your upper eyelid up and your lower eyelid down. This creates a larger surface area for the lens to enter your eye. -
Place the Lens in your Eye
Look straight ahead or up and gently bring the lens towards your eye. Gently place the lens on your eye and slowly release your eyelid. -
Blink and Position
Blink a few times to get the lens into place. If it still isn't sitting right, you can gently move the edge of the lens with your fingers until it fits properly. -
Repeat for the Other Eye
Repeat the process for your other eye.
These simple steps will help you insert colored contact lenses quickly and effectively. It may take a little getting used to, but practice makes it easier!
